Swedish Massage

Swedish is the most common type of massage. This massage uses a system of long strokes, kneading, and vibration techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles. It is used primarily for full-body sessions and promotes general relaxation, improves blood circulation and range of motion, and relieves muscle tension. If you are in need of relaxation or a way of escape from reality, this is the massage for you. This is a light to medium pressure relaxing massage.

Sports Massage

Sports massage involves a much firmer touch and amount of pressure, incorporating friction, and stretching. I work firmly into the muscles to relax spasms (knotted muscles) and thus allows the release of various toxins from the muscles such as lactic acid, waste fluids, etc. This allows the muscles to relax at a very deep level, therefore providing longer term benefits. If you are seeking relief from muscle spasms, tension, injury, or just a very active lifestyle, these techniques will be of the most benefit to you. It is important to note, that several sessions may be required to give you the full benefit and establishing a regular schedule of maintenance massage (weekly is recommended) will help to prevent these conditions.

Deep Tissue

This is the meat and potatoes of massage if you will; this type of massage is best suited for those in pain. As the name suggests, it is a more intense massage style. It can help reduce scar tissue and bring more blood and oxygen to the muscles. This can help relieve tightness and speed healing. Deep tissue work can sometimes be uncomfortable, or even a little painful, but breathing deeply helps. I will always work with you and never go past your comfort level. If you struggle with many long term aches and pains, work related injuries (especially if you work behind a computer for more than two hours a day,) then this is the massage for you. This is a medium to deep therapeutic massage. Again, several sessions may be required to give you the full benefit and establishing a regular schedule of maintenance massage (weekly is recommended) will help to prevent these conditions.

Chair Massage

This is a wonderful massage for those that have a very busy lifestyle and need a quick “pick-me-up” when coping with the everyday stresses of work. Those of you who work behind a desk for more than 2 hours a day need this type of massage. Do any of these symptoms of stress while at work sound familiar? Stiff neck, aching wrists and forearms, “rocks” for shoulders, minor headaches, and very poor circulation? Prolonged stress to your body can cause decreased energy, decreased mental awareness, and repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Receiving at least 15 minutes of chair massage twice a week, for five weeks will improve mental alertness, reduce muscle pain, and many times give you an energy burst.

When working in very public venues or in offices where space is limited, chair massage is more practical than table massage. You remain clothed and the massages are usually 15 minutes or less. This is excellent when hosting a party, show or other large groups of people.

What is not included in a therapeutic massage

As I have been asked on occasion about "other" services, I am compelled to state the following:

I do not do "erotic massage."

I do not disrobe or do massage naked.

I do not perform any sexual acts with my clients.

As a Professional Massage Therapist I will terminate a session immediately if you insist on any inappropriate behavior, or if my safety feels compromised. If you want something other than a therapeutic massage, try the yellow pages. There are many pages of listings under "Massage" and you'll probably find something you like. Sexual harassment will not be tolerated.
